23 – 25 May 2023
We were in Unity Secondary School for a 3-day Art Festival with the students and we taught them to create a unique Clay Relief Art on canvas and after, a presentation and mini-exhibition to showcase what they had learned to the whole school!
What a great idea it was to proudly show the school their art!
Day 1 – We came into the Secondary 1 classrooms and there were about 40 students in each of the two classes. We started the students by introducing Clay Relief Artform to them through slides and videos before getting them to sketch their ideas on paper. After a short break, we started getting them to paint on their canvas board with acrylic paints before moving on to creating the clay characters/ subjects/ objects for their theme. The theme was a simple subject; On Nature.
Day 2 – We continued working on the clay artwork to prepare for Day 3 set-up and presentation.
Day 3 – All artworks are to be displayed on the easels in the school hall but before doing so, the students learned how to write a simple description of their artwork as well as giving a title to the artwork. Once this is done, we assembled everyone in the hall for their presentation, photo-taking and exhibition.
It was a truly proud experience for ArtStories as we get to be a part of these students’ progress and development. We look forward to the next big show!
