ArtStories was honored to be invited by Hougang Community Club to lead a special community art event, where residents came together to paint 200 beautiful Peranakan tiles in celebration of the Arts Festival and National Day. The activity brought families, children, and seniors together as participants explored the vibrant colors and intricate patterns of Peranakan-inspired designs. Guided by ArtStories’ artists, everyone learned simple brush techniques, mixed colors, and added personal touches to their tiles, celebrating Singapore’s rich heritage and community spirit.
The atmosphere was lively and heartwarming as laughter, conversation, and music filled the space, creating a true sense of community spirit. Each painted tile became a symbol of togetherness and creativity, celebrating both cultural roots and Singapore’s milestone 60th National Day.
A special highlight of the day was having MP Marshall Lim join in the fun, painting alongside the residents and showing his strong support for the arts and community engagement. By the end of the event, the 200 tiles came together to form a stunning mosaic — a colorful and meaningful tribute to Singapore’s diversity, heritage, and shared pride during this year’s National Day celebration.
