Nan Chiau Primary Tile Painting Programme

Jacquelyn conducted a lively Peranakan tile painting program that pleased the students of Nan Chiau Primary School. The program introduced the pupils to the rich cultural legacy and intricate beauty of Peranakan art. Students gained an understanding of the meaning and background of the famous geometric and floral designs found in traditional Peranakan tiles throughout the practical lesson.

Bright paints and steady brushes allowed them to replicate these classic motifs while incorporating their own unique flare and contemporary touches. As the young painters enthusiastically painted their tiles, which individually reflected Singapore’s distinct fusion of tradition and modernity, the classroom was alive with enthusiasm and inventiveness.

In addition to igniting the students’ passion for art and design, the workshop was a profound and instructive experience that enhanced their understanding of local culture.
