21 May, Sunday – Marla and I spent the early morning of Sunday painting on tote bags with a group of 30 children as an art activity hosted by Hougang CC for their residents.

The children were asked to create tote bags for their Mother’s to celebrate Mother’s Day month and to send thanks and appreciation for all the care and love their mothers have showered them with.

The Hougang children were indeed a cheerful and interactive group as they helped each other out in their artwork. One of their parents told me that this area is very ‘kampung’ reflecting the idea that they are a very well integrated community who has formed very close knitted ties.
