At Ubi Community Centre, participants had an unforgettable time celebrating the Mooncake Festival with a blend of artistic activities like Brush Lettering and Clay Art. The room was filled with excitement as participants carefully practiced the graceful strokes of Brush Lettering, a traditional art form that allowed them to create elegant Chinese characters and festive phrases. With each brushstroke, they formed words like “harmony,” “moon,” and “family,” infusing their pieces with personal touches that reflected the spirit of the Mooncake Festival.
Simultaneously, some engaged themselves in the tactile realm of clay art, molding lanterns, traditional symbols such as the lotus flower and rabbit, which are closely linked to the event, and bright, detailed mooncake replicas with their hands. While learning about the cultural significance of the Mooncake Festival—from the lanterns that light up the night to the mooncakes as symbols of reunion—participants were able to express their creativity via the clay-shaping process.
As attendees told stories about their own Mooncake Festival customs, admired each other’s artwork, and exchanged ideas, the lively atmosphere was brimming with laughter, conversation, and a sense of friendship. Whether it was a hand-sculpted clay masterpiece or a beautifully crafted brush-lettered card, each participant left the session with a new artistic skill to take home and cherish, as well as a deeper appreciation for the festival’s cultural heritage.
