Students from Woodgrove Primary explored the material of metal and learnt the technique of Metal Toolling in our 8 week programme. From sketching of a Peranakan-inspired motif to learning how to use simple tools to emboss and etch the design onto the metal sheets, the students experienced a traditional artform which dates back to ancient beginnings (BC).
As they complete their embossing, the students were asked to paint and decorate a background for their metal sheet. It resulted in an explosion of ideas, creativity and imagination as the students were allowed free-play of topics, were beautifully painted and designed.
