We had the privilege of conducting a meaningful 12-week Art & Craft Therapy Programme with Adventist Senior Care Centre (Pending Road), designed to engage seniors receiving care for mild dementia through the joy of creativity and artistic expression.
Throughout the programme, we encouraged and interacted with the seniors as they explored a variety of hands-on art activities, including painting, crafting, clay moulding, and even building their very own cactus plants! Each session provided opportunities for the seniors to discover new skills, express their individuality, and experience the satisfaction of creating something beautiful with their own hands.
Beyond the finished artworks, the programme focused on fostering social interaction, stimulating creativity, and encouraging engagement in a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment. Through gentle guidance, meaningful conversations, and shared creative experiences, we hoped to nurture their confidence, bring moments of joy, and create lasting memories.
It was truly heartwarming to witness the seniors’ enthusiasm and pride in their creations. This 12-week journey reminded us that art is more than just making something beautiful — it is a meaningful way to connect, communicate, and enrich the lives of seniors through creativity and care.
