Instrument Making with Geylang East Home

24 Oct 2019 – I was invited back down to Geylang East Home for the Aged to conduct a special Instrument Making Workshop for their Seniors.

We made three instruments; A drum made out of paper and scotch-tape, a tambourine from paper plate and bells as well as a shaker made out of a cup and balloon!

The seniors worked in pairs to create their own instruments and they learnt how to appreciate each other’s help and creativity.

The workshop lasted for two hours and as we draw towards the end of the programme, we even managed to gather them around and teach them some basic percussive beats and rhythms by hitting on the instruments and playing along to Singapore Folk Song; Chan Mali Chan.

Oh what a splendid time these seniors had!
