Our very own twist on the Peranakan Clay Relief Art Programme travelled to Concord Primary, where students learnt to manipulate clay to express their creativity through themes such as a Flora & Fauna journey, a vibrant and healthy plate of fruits, and a myriad of organic shapes and geometric patterns inspired by Peranakan art and design. As they pinched, rolled, flattened, and textured the clay, students discovered how simple techniques could be transformed into intricate and colourful relief artworks.
Working with clay was an exciting hands-on experience that encouraged the students to explore different textures, experiment with creative ideas, and bring their imaginations to life. The classroom was filled with enthusiastic conversations as they proudly shared their unique creations and admired one another’s work.
It was wonderful to see their confidence grow with every session as they developed new artistic skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for the rich patterns, motifs, and cultural heritage of Peranakan art.
