We brought our Gel Printing programme to Huamin Primary!
The modern gel plate press was created by Gelli Arts founder Joan Bess. Joan would create her own gelatin press at home, but wanted to make something that was more durable, easy to store and maintain long term. The Gelli plate can be used to print onto different surfaces, such as card, paper, and fabric. Different media can be used on the plate, including water- based inks, acrylic paints, and alcohol inks, all creating unusual effects.
We did a mixture of Foamboard Printing & Gel Printing in a 5 week course with the students and these students learn about negative and positive spaces, colours and texture to create their experimental pieces!
